I was given the opportunity to work in education when one of my best friends offered me a job with a government funded program called Parents as Teachers as a parent educator. This program ran as a normal daycare during school hours while parents learned English or pursued their GED. I was required to make home visits to evaluate the growth and development of the child enrolled in the program and refer the parents to the proper specialists. The most important part was teaching the parents how to be primary educators for their child in their home. I would generate educational games and toys made from everyday objects found in the home and teach the parents how to teach trough play. This program inspired me to become a teacher 🙂
I worked for HISD for the past five years as a bilingual 4th grade teacher. I loved every minute of it! I decided to open my daycare so that I could offer services that I was not able to apply in a public setting, such as prayer. My class had 22 students or more, I want to be able to give each child the attention they deserve. I hope that I can make a true impact on my future students spiritually and academically.
I hold a Directors License DFPS – Texas Department of Family and Protective Services www.dfps.state.tx.us/
